Pictured here is the sole is the new Adapt-Tech sole. It will adapt to your needs whether it is putting power to the pedals or scrambling up an un-ridable section of the trail.
The sole will flex a bit in front of the cleat, but from the cleat back it's stiff for power transfer.
The white that you see is the Innegra fiber.
It's still a durable Vibram sole, but everything that is not absolutely needed, is cut away to save weight.

Carbon / Innegra sole and a full length ultra durable Vibram sole. Same stiff sole as the performance road shoes.
